I don’t usually take photos of breakfast food, so this is the closest I could come. These were taken right in our yard from our deck – two are from this morning, and one is from yesterday. Our yard seems to be quite a deer playground and feasting area during the autumn months, so there has been a LOT of activity at our place in the last few weeks. This morning I counted seven females, three fawns, and five bucks (one with a broken leg) just in our backyard. While the mamas and the bucks are busy, the fawns wait patiently and snack on foliage. This makes for good photo opportunities, but dense trees, active deer, and an overcast day can make it a “challenge.” (Haiku follows the first photo.)

Snow for breakfast, anyone?

The baby deer are so cute. I suffer pangs of jealousy when my husband gets a better photo than I do, but at least your husband let you post his. Great entry!
Beautiful photos, all of them! I must say that he captured that buck well indeed. 🙂
Beautiful photos. I like to photo nature so I also have an animal in my photo challenge 🙂

Lovely photos how lucky you are to have deer in your garden!
wow, awesome pics…(!_!)
SO VERY BLESSED YOU ARE–such a joy it must be to see all this natural life, so unself-concious, while you are having breakfast, just from your own back deck! Great photos! So relieved that big guy your husband photoed so well is not near any of the good ol’ boy hunters around here in NW Alabama! And your chosen composition with the patches of snow, feeding fawns, tender green surviving plants, and landscaping ties is most effective and artful.
Sweet. 🙂
these are such great photos
We frequently have deer noshing on the grass for breakfast outside our windows 🙂 http://aurelientt.wordpress.com/2011/11/18/weekly-photo-challenge-breakfast/
Amazing photos! You must live in a fabulous place. : )
Oh WOW! These shots are just fabulous!
great to see the deer … i almost posted pics of red-necked wallabies eating in the early morning …but after posting a big kangaroo eating breakfast i felt i couldn’t … yours are lovely!
Cool wildlife photos! Deer have to eat breakfast too but I wish they would leave our bushes alone. The picture of the buck is awesome. It’s deer season in MissouREE and I will be happy when it is over!
I live in the city so I think these photos are fab!
Reminds me of my yard too… We have a lot of deer and they show up year round but especially in fall and winter. Excellent! 🙂
Wow… they are just found in your yard 🙂 So nice to see them just walking around. I only see them in zoos where I came from. I like the second pic… artistic shot 🙂
I don’t know what you did to the second shot, but I like it! I wish I lived someplace that I could see great things like this.
You’re lucky to have them in your backyard!
A fun way to have breakfast. Also a joy to see animals in their home, safe and free. Wishing you and your family tons of blessings. Happy Thanksgiving.

Beautiful wildlife captures! I love the action in the second shot!
