When I was working in Osaka, Japan, I toured Osaka Castle (大阪城) just after it’s 1997 major renovation, and took the original photo during that visit.  For the image, I used Photoshop Elements to create another old Japanese woodblock print style, with my own flare.  Also, I added a texture to soften the image.

Here is the photo I started with, which was scanned from a negative:

  1. That is a really neat effect that you have created with Elements. i will have to see if I have something likethat in Paint Shop Pro. But i consider that your style and well done from start to finish.

  2. Astonishing!
I like the original photograph but you’ve taken that scene to a whole other level with the treatment you’ve given and haiku and created a really beautiful atmosphere of an era now passed.
    Very inspiring work!

  4. I have always admired the delicate touch you add to your photographs in post production. This woodblock print style and the texture enhances the photograph into something very beautiful and very subtle. There is such a soft ambience in the picture. Simply great.

  5. Oh, Fergie–you are getting so good with that Photoshop Elements program. The top picture looks just like a Japanese woodblock print. So wonderful to have you share Osaka Castle after its renovation. Great “O” challenge post.
