snow melts into spring
and nature flaunts lavish costumes
flourishing blossoms
>>:::<<
It seems like spring has been postponed for us again…and again. Just when we think spring has finally arrived, it quickly withdraws, acquiescing to snow. This past Monday morning, we woke up to snow and cold temperatures, which will continue into Wednesday.
I took this photo exactly one year ago on April 17, 2012. At that time, all of the daffodils were in full bloom and the tulips were just starting to bloom. Right now, none of the daffodils have bloomed, although a few are close, and the tulips probably won’t start until next week. The trees are only showing small hints of green, which will eventually turn into lush, full leaves.
So…we wait for spring…still…and then we will celebrate its real arrival.

NATURE NOTES
You’re not the only blog I follow in the US that mentions the many false starts of Spring. Every time someone posts that it (Spring) has arrived, they get more snow.
Hopefully it will finally arrive this week!
We are on the same wavelength. My haiku today is about Mother Nature being a tease. You would have thought we coordinated ours today, LOL! Margie
We sure were, Margie! What a coincidence.
I just saw your lovely post today.
Great yellow, so cheerful.
The spring has been unusally frustrating this year. It was sunny in the garden today, but to cool to sit in any one spot for long without being active. Spring is the one thing that keeps my faith going.
Sorry to hear that Fergie. Lovely photo though. 🙂
Thank you very much, Sonel! It will arrive sooner or later.
I am sure it will hon. 🙂 *hugs*
Spring is a time to rejoice, to be renewed , to go out there and enjoy life and nature. Beautiful!
Thank you so much, IT! I can’t wait until all the colorful blossoms start appearing.
This shot is a delight to the soul Fergiemoto! Have a golden day! Sharon
What a delightful and lovely comment, Sharon! Thank you so much!
It’s here, temperature wise at least.
So glad it finally arrived for you!
I love this haiku, you are so good at them! 🙂
And I love the way you have focussed on the inside of the flower making the actual petals slightly out of focus. .
It has been the same here in the UK. Finally I think we have said goodbye to snow and cold temperatures, but everything is late flowering; they are still struggling to catch up with a season that should be well on its way by now. Xx
Thank you so much, Christine! Glad to hear spring may have finally arrived for you. A month into spring already, and we don’t have any blooms in our yard yet. But it will happen sooner or later.
Yes, Winter has .. been hard on us and nature this year … so late over here too – but this week we had Spring … foggy mornings with warm sunny days. Just bring it on. Beautiful … photo. Happy Spring to you.
I’m glad you’ve had some warm sunny days. Hoping for many more! Happy Spring to you, too! Thank you so much for your nice comment!
Thanks, we had a fantasti spring day .. today and yesterday. It’s so fantastic … love it.
Spring may be teasing but you have found a way to teas it back!!! Beautiful photo, Fergie! I hope Spring wakes up soon!
🙂
tease!
Thank you so much, dear Marina! Yes, I suppose this was a tease back. Spring should be here this week…I hope! Hope you had a lovely weekend. 🙂
Lovely shot, indeed. The spring really arrived.
Thank you so much, Cocomino! I’m looking forward to when the blooms start appearing in our yard.
Daffodils are certainly the first sign of spring. Hopefully you will be seeing them soon! Stay warm 🙂
Lovely.
Beautiful macro…such warmth…and promise.
Thank you so much, Scott! We should be experiencing warmer temps and spring weather this week.
You’re welcome…I’m looking forward to it. 🙂
Gorgeous macro! although I have seen daffodils, they are out. But no tulips yet. Spring flowers are pretty hardy, so they’ll probably survive.
Thank you!! The daffodils should be blooming within the next few days and they have survived freezing temperatures before. Happy Spring!
Beautiful picture with the hope that spring arrives in earnest.
Thank you so much, Gian Paolo! I hope spring arrives this week.
I hope so too
Spring is definitely teasing this year. I look forward to those spring flowers.
Super image!
so very yellow … and sunny …. wishing you warmth and sunshine soon fergie … we have family feeling very grey and chilly in paris too 🙂
Thank you very much, Christine! The sun seems to be sticking around longer the last few days. It’s looking more promising now.
It looks like your having some fun with your new lens. I’ve heard that it gets a little tricky when using flash with. Nice spring color.
I do have fun with the macro lens, especially now that we will be seeing more flowers and insects soon. I rarely use a flash, and the times I did, the photo came out overexposed or just did not look decent at all. Thank you for your nice comment, Jim!
Beautiful macro! Yes, spring will arrive for good one of these days! 🙂
I hope it arrives soon!
That is a fabulous shot.
No spring here either.
Thank you very much, ladyfi! Hope spring arrives soon for you.
Lovely photo. And, we are supposed to have snow today at my house.
Earl
Thank you, Earl! Snow seems like a common theme for many people these days.
it is a long wait for everyone, north and south. Well, we will appreciate it more as I do your verse and photo.
Thank you, Jane! It’s looking more promising these last few days.
What a stunning shot Fergie! Love the Haiku too and the lavish costume 🙂
Thank you, Madhu!
Those costumes can get quite fancy. I don’t know how nature does it, but I’ll just enjoy the show.

Lovely macro.
Even though it’s taking longer than usual this year, at least you can be certain it WILL come! 🙂
Yes it has been..we had snow here over the weekend….Michelle

Wow – that is a spectacular shot! Hoping spring comes soon – to both of us.
Spring is taking its time getting here – even in Japan.
I like your haikus~
Yes, that is how our weather has been, too. But this week warmed up, the daffodils burst open, my forsythia is full and brilliant – ‘lavishly costumed’ as you so lyrically wrote – so worth waiting for! Perhaps spring just doesn’t want to take ‘her’ for granted … although I suspect the creative and most sensitive among us never do. Beautiful photograph and haiku to accompany it. XO
