This is another photomanipulation to digitally convert a photo into the likeness of an old Japanese woodblock print.  The last one I did was posted back in October, and I was tempted to try another one.  The original photo of this Steller’s Jay was taken at Bryce Canyon National Park.  The description of the image is in English and Japanese (along the right side of the image).

I’m posting this photo for the “J” Challenge by Frizztext (“J” is for Jay and Japanese).

  1. This is wonderful. I lived out that way for a couple years and the Steller’s jays were a favorite of mine. Bryce Canyon, of course, is beyond gorgeous. I loved how you turned this into a woodblock.

  2. Nice. That’s a great effect – it DOES look like an old woodblock print. Is that effect through Flickr? Photoshop? ????

  5. aloha Fergiemoto – beautiful altering and photo-painting/manipulation. i also like the way your haiku breaks into two phrase parts (2 lines in one phrase with 1 line in the other) – juxtaposing one phrase with the other. that strengthens and simplifies the ku (imo). way cool.

  6. Every year we get Stellar Jays in and below the apple trees in the back yard near to where Ethel has her feeders. Every year that visitation(s) is one of the highlights of the year. What a beautiful bird–and woodcut print.
