This is another photo taken at the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge last month.  It was mating and nesting time for Canadian Geese, and we saw many couples walking together around the refuge.  Paired Canadian Geese form strong bonds, are monogamous and usually stay together for life.

  9. There is a nature reserve right up the road from where I live (the Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge, http://www.fws.gov/northeast/iroquois/) so this post was very dear to my heart for it also along a migrating route for Canadian Geese. The other day my mom and I were driving along just south of the reserve and a pair were crossing the road with their five goslings. They were headed to a creek running along a bank on the other side. The last gosling in line slipped a little and you could see his/her panic to get back on his/her feet and catch up! What a a scene, lovely like your post!

  11. Aren’t these geese just wonderful role models for us humans? As I say and show in my own blog all the time, critters have much to teach us. Great meeting of the “Together” photo challenge–and I love your verse-caption here.

Thanks so much for your comments!
